Visiting art galleries is one of my favourite past times and I'm always happy to visit an exhibition by local or famous artist. In Jakarta, there isn't much art event being held, but as time goes by, there are more indie galleries popping up, like the Dia.lo.gue or Suar art space. The National Gallery itself, is somehow long forgotten. Not until it holds several exhibitions recently, did it draw youth crowd alike and start to resurface again.
Taking two halls as the exhibition space, Exi(s)t exhibition showcases artworks curated by Evelyn Huang and Shila Gaisani. There are 15 artist who participated in this year's exhibition. Exi(s)t is held for young artist in Indonesia who are considered new and fresh in the Indonesian art stage. The theme of this year's exhibition is "Tomorrow as We Know It" where artists interpret what will going to happen in the future through their lens and subtheme like technology, gender, humanity, the internet of things.
