Hotel Hermitage Jakarta review

Hotel Hermitage Jakarta

I am not someone who loves to do a staycation. For me, it's either stay at home or go on a trip. One day, my sister asked me to go out for a staycation, and I was like, hmmm most probably I might need to try it once. We browsed around and our choice falls on Hotel Hermitage Jakarta. Part of the Tribute Portfolio Hotel and Marriott Group, I reckon this place as one of the best hotels in Jakarta at the moment.

Actually, it is not my first time visiting the hotel, as I have visited their rooftop bar La Vue and the restaurant before. I am always mesmerized by the building. This colonial building has a 1920's art deco style. The staff told us that it was once a telecommunication building in a colonial era. A huge part of the building is maintained as the original one. I can never say no to an artsy historic building and design hotels in general. You will be greeted by all white interior with marble floor and wooden furnitures upon entering the premise. The restaurants, namely L'Avenue restaurant and Heritage Lounge are located near the main entrance. Then there is a grand wooden staircase leading to the second floor where the event rooms are. The reception is located on the right wing of the hotel.

Hotel Hermitage Jakarta room

This 5-star hotel falls under Marriott Hotel category 4. The lobby is not big, but the design is quite grand with circular stairs, marble floor, and high ceiling. I love how airy it is. The hotel itself has a restaurant, a courtyard cafe, and a rooftop bar. Other amenities include a swimming pool, a spa, and a mini gym. Check in process was fast and hassle-free. Then we were sent to our room. To my surprise, the room itself is so spacious. The deluxe room is apparently bigger than most of the rooms in Jakarta. 40m square in size, it allows many amenities and room to literally roam around.

The room has an all-white color scheme with colonial style accent. The furniture has a heritage design but not old and the room is finished with subtle colors for the curtain, carpet, and sofa. When you open the door, there will be a wooden cupboard and coffee making/ fridge area. The bathroom is just opposite. Equipped with high-quality shower and dual basin, the bathroom is something I have an eye for. Unfortunately, the deluxe room in The Hermitage Jakarta does not have a bath-tub. Next is the living room area with a sofa and table set, 40" tv, Bose Cd player, and a working desk in the corner. the living room area itself is directly opposite the king bed. Overall, the room is clean even in the nook and cranny, well maintained, and air-con was working perfectly. Bed and pillows were comfortable and we had a tranquil sleep.

Hotel Hermitage Jakarta breakfast and swimming pool

We had the breakfast at the Hotel Hermitage Jakarta L'Avenue Restaurant the next morning. Breakfast selection was not grand but quite plentiful. They served a combination of western and asian delicacies. Overall breakfast was great and we had no issues. After breakfast, we headed to the top floor to chill and swim. The infinity style pool is clean and tranquil. We love to lounge around and just chit chatting. There was a small gym, but we did not try.

I haven't mentioned this but staff and service were excellent. All the staffs were so helpful and full of cheer and good hospitality. This is important to mention as we both just had a visit to another 5-star hotel the weekend before for dining and we regretted on how poor the service was. Again, no matter how good the hotel or food is, but when the service is not pleasant, I will assure you that I will not come back.

Hotel Hermitage Jakarta overall score

Overall, we really love our staycation at the Hotel Hermitage Jakarta. We had a good sleep quality, satisfied with the food, and most importantly they offer a great service. It is not only pleasant but also changed my perception regarding staycation. Now I am ready for my next staycation! If you want to book this hotel, Marriott Bonvoy Member will get an exclusive offer, save up to 20% on you stay if you  book before December 2020 for stays through June 2021.
