New York City Bucket List

New York City has been on my bucket list for quite a while. I know that a lot of our travel is being put on postpone, but I'm here to share with you travel inspirations so that when the world reopens, at least we have a plan about our new destination. I have never been to New York City and guess what, it is definitely one of my dream destinations. See below some of the things that caught my eyes and what I would like to do if I visit the city. I know that a lot of my readers are based in the United States. f you have more ideas, please share with me in the comment !

1. Exploring 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue

A movie that makes me mesmerized about New York City is the movie Sex and the City? Who's a fan too? There are many episodes of Carrie and the gang exploring the 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue carrying bags of shoes and fashion items. I feel that strolling from the Upper East Side to the Midtown Manhattan on an afternoon would be a joy on its own. I know that several iconic buildings like the Cartier Mansion shop and Saks 5th Avenue always have a great window display. Other brands that I would love to visit includes Tory Burch just because I'm a fan of the brand. I used to work and help with their styling and celebrity dressing in Indonesia, therefore visiting the main boutique should be a great personal experience. Besides that, I would love to drop by the Shakespeare and Co as well as the Albertine Bookstore to grab some new books along the way.

2. The Central Park

Nothing beats a morning jogging at the park. I realise that Central Park is so huge, perhaps it would take several hours to explore. Walking around the city park also makes me feel at ease and I feel it's a great activity to enjoy the scenery and blending in with the locals. I feel like having a picnic in Central Park, followed by riding a bike around would be a perfect itinerary for the weekend as well. In Asia, we have Singapore Botanical Garden and also the Perdana Botanical Garden in Malaysia. Those two are my favourite place for exercising or just strolling in the morning. What to wear for strolling in the park you may ask? Women off shoulder dresses, floral dresses, or midi dresses can be a good choice!

3. New York City Restaurants and Coffee Shops

Just like Singapore, there are so many types of food to try in New York City. From pizza place, coffee shop to fine dining, there is a unique place at every turn. For restaurants, the Serabeth's and ABC House are on my top list. Meanwhile for coffee, I believe there are many interesting places, including the famous Stumptown Coffee Roasters and the hidden gems like Cafe Integral. Dropping by the iconic Magnolia Bakery and Dominique Ansel Bakery would be a plus. Of course I wouldn't mind to try the food truck along the way.

4. Top of the Rock

I always love a skyscraper and the idea of overlooking the city from the highest point of view. I did the same in Victoria Peak Hong Kong, enjoying Bangkok night view from a sky bar, and also Singapore skyline view via the Marina Bay observation deck. I feel like it's something I personally can't miss on every trip as I feel at peace looking the city from another point of view. I believe Top of the Rock will give me the same feeling. This place is located at the Rockefeller Plaza, Diamond District. Do you know you can also get the The Top of The Rock Admission online? It will save you so much time from queueing!

5. Solomon Guggenheim Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art

I'm a huge museum goer, so these two should be on my list. I always admire the architecture of the Solomon Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It shares its collection with other Guggenheim museums in the world like the one in Bilbao and Mexico. The museum consists of numerous beautiful paintings from Kandinsky to Cezanne. Also check out their online tour and activities while the museum is closed.

On the other hand, Metropolitan Museum of Art or widely known as the Met is widely known because of the Met Gala. The museum itself is comprises of three different buildings, but the one in Fifth Avenue is the largest one. While the museum is closed, they are having the Met online art exhibition which you can enjoy wherever you are. I like how the museum has a diverse collection from the Byzantine era, ancient Egypt and the art from Asia.

6. Exploring Harlem and the Yankee Stadium

I feel that Harlem is another interesting neighbourhood. I love jazz music and Harlem jazz scene is something I would like to experience. I heard that there is a Harlem Jazz tour or this one that is coordinated by the big apple jazz where we can visit some notable gems including watching live music in the popular Jazz clubs, Savoy Ballroom and the Apollo Theatre. I would like to drop by at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem as sometimes they have a special performance. Afterwards, I would like to north and visit the Yankee Stadium. If it is possible, watching a match would be awesome!

New York City Hotel

On the other hand, I have researched some hotels that I think will suit my preference. I'm very intrigued by this Ludlow Hotel New York located in Lower East Side area. It's not exactly in the tourist spot, so I hope it's not very busy. The room is a mix of eclectic vitntage and modern monochromatic style which I love. The Ludlow Hotel NYC bathroom is also quite magnificent! I feel overall it is a hotel with a good view of New York.

  6. These are all great ideas! I have only been to NYC twice so my recommendations are limited. Being an expensive city I would suggest searching free things to do. The Staten Island Ferry is free to ride. Strolling Times Square is a must!

  18. Thanks for sharing your bucket list. I went to NTC over a decade ago and it still remainds one of my best trips. I went to stay with a cose friend and because she knew people and it was the time of Sex and the City, I was able to live like a semi-New Yorker during my time there.
Go when you can, the hype is well-deserved (in my opinion) Xo

  21. Hi there! I hope you enjoyed this weekend :)

NY is one of those cities that you need to visit at least once in a lifetime, the saddest part is that it is never enough and is one of those places that always have something new to show you.

I have been twice and I treasure these experiences in my heart. You marked some of the most coolest experiences, but you also need to make room for visiting the MOMA and the MET, I'm sure you'd like them.... Also I have seen a lot of cool places in Brooklyn, but they were not the coolest spots when I went to the city :)

    All the best!

  22. I have always wanted to visit New York! There are so many great things to do there! My sister has visited a few times and loves it, but it is not looking like I'll be getting there any time soon, there are so many cases of the virus there and they are saying we won't open Australian borders until next year maybe!

Hope you had a great weekend! :)
