Milan fashion week: Kaleidoscopic Versace
Expect to see some flashback ideas of the 80's in Versace menswear collection spring summer 2011 recently showcased on June 19 2010. House of Versace extracted the image of Bruce Weber's photography for the advertisement campaign circa late 80's and blend it with current trend of poise menswear.
Versace delivers rolled up slim pants, silhouted suits, and sophisticate blaszer with slightly shortened sleeves. Those designs are combined with details of studs, fringe and rockabily leather which gives 80's revival sense. Get ready to be wow-ed by the acid wash accents on pants and kaledoscopic rhythm prints repeated all over the suit. That print reminds us of the iconic versace prints in late 80's-90's era, but this time it is being vavavoom-ed to the future by using smaller prints on muted colour fabric.
Colours are dominated by black, grey, marron, and navy , while materials ranged from shiny fabrics for suit, sheer, to cotton and wool. For accesories, you can see some embelishment on the oxford shoes, like studs, and most important, the iconic medusa metal buckles.
Those design statement is also supported by runway area with full of black and white prints. Well, what do you think? 80's enough? Versace-ed much?

Hmmm I like some of it - like I can imagine taking a few of the pieces and mixing it with other stuff. The entire collection together though I'm afriad is a little too much. I love the 80s and it's combebacks but thats too much :/

80s is one of my favorite eras for fashion, so I'm definitely feeling parts of this collection! I mean, put it this way: I'd be pretty intrigued if I saw a man walking around in one of these snazzy suits!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!

nice post, fhen! those are really lovely pieces from Versace. =))
ReplyDeletehugs and kisses,

I think it's a very interesting mixture of 80s (broad shoulders), early 90s (long & sleek), 60s (roll-ups, tight trousers) and now. You need to be rather slim though to pull the look off.
ReplyDeleteVery majestic and pure lined. Futuristic a dash too with lots of silver and shiny accents around.
ReplyDeletethis is fabulous review fhen !!
ReplyDeletei love the clothes, but i dont think it really suits the people in reality ! i mean how many boys do you actually see in these type of suits ? :)
i like most of the with the blazers! The rest is a bit questionable. But you did a great job putting this post together :)
ReplyDeletevery chic men! If all men could at least dress like this! ;)
ReplyDeleteall my love my dear fhen!
I think I want those shoes in the last look for myself!
