japan couture evening: junko shimada

This year, FIDE Fashion Week, exclusively dedicated a night to showcase the three great couturier from Japan, namely Somarta, Junko Shimada, and Yumi Katsura. Each of them has their own style and design characteristics. Junko Shimada is a master of color and her Spring Summer 2013 collection is filled with range of bright hued ensemble.

Junko-san puts together combination of traditional and contemporary fashion in such a clever way. Taking cue from the middle east, she creates kaftan inspired dresses with loose silhouette and details like pleats, ruched, and embroidery. She really makes turbans look stylish and classy more than ever! and the whole outfit does not look costume-y either. The touch of details also include sateen sash and aladdin look a like shoes.

Bright azure blue, fresh orange, and passionate red are blended well with the loose cutting outfit. Besides that, she also incorporates shower of metallic goodness in matching dresses and turban, as well as in stripes and exotic prints.

Thin and thick silk, jacquard, and cotton brings out the color and prints so well. To be honest i am not a big fan of color, but Junko Shimada surely knows how to invite people like me into the epitome of life in technicolor.
