The Book Tree Returns to Shiba Park Hotel:
A Social Contribution through Books, Supporting Education.
From the end of 2024 to the beginning of 2025, Shiba Park Hotel will be displaying a "Book Tree" made from books donated by guests and employees. After the display, these books will be sold, and the proceeds will be donated to Room to Read Japan, a certified NPO. Room to Read Japan works to provide books and expand educational opportunities for children in low-income areas around the world.
The Book Tree can be seen at the Library Lounge of Shiba Park Hotel. This is a project to create a Book Tree (Christmas tree) by collecting books that you no longer read. Hotel staff will create a Book Tree (Christmas tree) from the books you bring or send to us, and will be on displayed in the Library Lounge until New Year’s. After New Year’s, the books will be donated with the cooperation of Room to Read Japan. Our library hotel is a space surrounded by books, providing an environment where book lovers can relax and unwind. For these book lovers, the hotel have prepared a participatory project that allows you to contribute to society through books.

Shiba Park Hotel is a library hotel with book collections throughout the hotel, providing a relaxing environment with approximately 1,500 books to satisfy book lovers. For those book lovers, Shiba Park Hotel have prepared an accommodation plan that allows you to contribute to society by staying at the hotel while enjoying books. For a part of the room charge, two children books written in local languages will be donated in cooperation with Room to Read Japan. In addition, they will provide environmentally friendly amenities in the guest rooms. Please enjoy the new experience of staying with us at Shiba Park Hotel. They also have a reading companion package for your stay at The Shiba Park Hotel to enjoy books and drinks together. Guest can enjoy selections of drinks like tea, coffee, wine, sake, and beer while enjoying the book. Complimentary coffee and tea are available at the reception for our in-house guests. (Available from 6:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.) You may take your coffee back to your room or enjoy it in front of the fireplace in the Library Lounge.

What is the Book Baton Project?
The Book Baton Project is a corporate CSR activity in which employees participate in the activities of Room to Read Japan through the reuse of books in their offices and homes, and “connect unwanted books like a baton and turn them into books for children around the world. Shiba Park Hotel is a library hotel with 1,500 books. Similar initiatives were carried out in the winter of 2022 and 2023, making this the third year. As a hotel for book lovers, they aim to contribute to society through books. For Reference: 2023 Donation Amount: 242,805 yen (equivalent to approximately 1,618 children's books in the local language).
Q. Do you accept any type of books?
A. The hotel accept books with an ISBN, a 13-digit code established to identify books and even without book covers or band as long as there are no tears or stains on the cover or pages. However, magazines, encyclopedias, and comics are not eligible, even if they have an ISBN.
Q. What is the donation period?
A. Donations are wlcome between October 15 (Tue.) – November 15 (Fri.), 2024.
Q. Can I donate books without staying at a hotel?
A. Donations can be made by anyone who uses Shiba Park Hotel, even if you are not staying with us.
