Wat Arun is one of the most famous landmarks in Bangkok. I decided to visit it recently during my solo travel and my fourth times in Thailand. In this blog post, learn about the Wat Arun entrance fee, how to go, and also the things to note before visiting it. This pretty architecture is located by the bank of Chao Phraya River and during dawn the sunset will reflect beautifully on the white ceramic tiles. Wat Arun is a buddhist temple which has been around since the kingdom of Ayuthaya (6156). It is revamped during the reign of king Rama V (1868-1910) to restore its structure and patterns. The word Arun itself comes from the Hindu God Aruna.
Wat Arun travel tips
1. How to go to Wat Arun
Unlike popular writing that it can only be reached by the boat, Wat Arun can actually be accessed through land by driving a car or taking a grab bike. You can take the Arun Amarin road to reach the Wat. If you want to take another route, you can take a boat that stops at Sappan Taksin Ferry pier that will take you across Chao Phraya River. Wat Arun is open from 8.30 am to 17.30 pm daily
2. Wat Arun entrance Fee
Wat Arun entrance fee for tourist is 50 baht. If you enter one of the temples around it, you can also make a small donation inside. Visit the temples for a quiet time to pray or meditate.
3. Wat Arun travel tips
Like other temples, clothing guideline applies in Wat Arun as well. Don't forget to wear something relax with sleeves and skirt below the knee for women.The Wat Arun architecture
The main feature of Wat Arun is the Central Prang (Khmer Style tower) which is encrusted with colourful porcelain. It has three symbolic levels - Base that means Traiphum which indicates all levels of existence. Second level is symbolised by the Tavatimsa where are desires are gratified. The top denoting Devaphum which indicates six heavens within seven realms of happiness. The corners are surrounded by smaller four satellites Prang. Over at the second terrace there are four statues of the God Indra riding on Erawan.
