Soneva Kiri Resort Thailand

Soneva Kiri Resort is a luxury resort in Thailand at the bank of the Gulf of Thailand. Perfect for getaway and honeymoon, it houses different kind of villas residence. The resort offers not only a beautiful view but also fun activities throughout the stay. Even though this is not a good time to travel yet, but I hope you can bookmark this page until the situation allows us to travel again. For the mean time, perhaps we can look at different destinations digitally to remind us that it's a big world out there and we are all in this together!

Overview of the Resort and location.

Located in Koh Kod, the property is quite secluded facing the Gulf of Thailand. Untamed jungle, pristine beaches, local shermen going about their business, Koh Kood is an unspoiled island far beyond Thailand’s tourist trail. Located on this island is the serene and secluded Soneva Kiri, offering an unrivalled blend of luxury, environmentally-friendly design and unforgettable, authentic Thai experiences. Barefoot luxury at its best, Soneva Kiri inspires the imagination, Thai style. The resort can be reached by a short 90 minute flight on the resort’s private plane, direct from Suvarnabhumi Airport, or alternatively by domestic flight from Bangkok to Trat, followed by a short boat ride to Koh Kood.

Rooms and villas

There are a total of 34 villas available in Soneva Kiri Resort from the one bedroom private villa to the six bedrooms family villa. All of the villas have rustic-chic furnishings, personal electric buggies or bicycles and impeccable service courtesy of Mr./Ms. Friday private butlers. Check out their special offers here

Experiences and dining

If you are worrying what would you savour during your stay, Soneva Kiri Resort got it all covered. Dining experiences at Soneva Kiri are defined by the simplicity of flavours and the freshness of its ingredients. You can also their impressive complimentary resort-made chocolate s and 60 flavours of ice cream. In addition to the restaurants and bars, the resort offers culinary explorers the opportunity for private picnics, and destination dining around Koh Kood. There are a total of 12 restaurants on site. On of the highlights is the Treepod Dining. The renowned dining experience invites guests to sink into the comfortable bamboo pod as they are gently hoisted high up into the tropical foliage of Koh Kood’s ancient rainforest. Gourmet delights and beverages are delivered via the zip-line acrobatics of the personal waiter.

Island adventures or romantic escapes, Soneva Kiri’s variety of nature-inspired experiences caters to every kind of traveller. Guests can choose from spa treatments, star gazing and nature walks along the island’s trails. There are various activities for every ages, including children. My favourites are The observatory where visiting astronomers show guests the constellations, the moons of Jupiter and the halo of Saturn’s translucent ring. The second one would be Cinema Paradiso, an open air cinema in the wild. There are also yoga and gym on site, so you can stay fit. Children can enjoy The Den, which is dedicated to learning, excitement and meaningful experiences. Last but not least, you can snorkel nearby the resort or head to Koh Rang Yai National Marine Park.

Soneva Kiri Resort Sustainability Program

What I love about the group is their sustainability project and local impact. Using only sustainable and eco-friendly materials, Soneva goes to great lengths to ensure villas blend seamlessly with their natural surroundings. Working with local craftsmen, the villas and their style define the effortless, rustic chic synonymous with Soneva. Soneva’s three resorts continue to attract prestigious awards and accolades. Some of their most recent include: Condé Nast Traveler - Gold List 2020 and Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards 2019 Top 20 Resorts in Asia/Thailand - Winner - Soneva Kiri.

By adding a two per cent environmental levy to guests’ bills, Soneva has raised around USD 6.2 million towards environmental projects, which will mitigate one million tonnes CO2 over seven years; far exceeding Soneva’s carbon footprint including guest flights. So far, the projects have benefitted more than 185,000 people. Similarly, the company also banned imported water in 2008 and produces all required drinking water on site. This has reduced carbon emissions and also avoided the estimated 1.7 million plastic bottles that would need to be disposed of. The savings achieved from this have been used through the Soneva Foundation to give over 750,000 people access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation.
