Singapore Dessert - Best Cafes

Singapore dessert scene ranges from brunch favourite like waffles, to ice cream, and of course variety of cakes. Singapore dessert cafes are blessed with variety of flavours combination from the east meets west. Sunday brunch is a pretty common thing in Singapore, so finding a good dessert to accompany the meal is crucial. Here are some of my favourite places for dessert cafes islandwide.

Jones The Grocer

Cooking and baking honest food and brewing good coffee everyday. Shop artisan grocery, cheese, meat and gifts not in your local supermarket. I went here on a Sunday morning for their pancake. Love the texture and taste. The topping was blueberry, strawberries, fresh cream, and ground nut. It is an epitome of a weekend comfort food. For the holiday season, also expect for a special upcoming menu.

PS Cafe

The cafe is nestled among the lush greenery of Dempsey Hill Singapore. It is located at Harding Road, a little uphill road near Tanglin, Orchard. The cake below is one of their cake selections, but I tried it on the other day, so it is not in the video. It is the golden banana butterscotch cake and M's carrot cake, and I can tell you it is heavenly. Read more details about PS Cafe in this post.

Populus

Perfect for brunch or lunch, the place serves range of menu from savoury to dessert. Their ice cream waffle is such a legend. Had their blackforest waffle that consists of vanilla ice cream, chocolate and berry sauce. Such a heaven. Beware that the place closes at 6 and close order at 5 pm daily. It's definitely one of the best brunch places in Singapore you got to check out!

Plain Vanilla Bakery

Located in the quaint Tiong Bahru Estate, this local bakery features not only good croissants and cupcakes, but also good coffee. They made their pastries with finest ingredients like Valrhona Chocolate, Belgian Chocolate, French butter, Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla, and other ingredients alike. With quaint interior, the cafe is a joint of two buildings. Choose from the cakes and pastries on display. It is a must visit for those who venture to Tiong Bahru Area. They also have opened a new branch in Telok Ayer area recently. You can order the cakes online here.

The name Twenty Grammes was taken from the fact that it takes 20 grammes of coffee to pull a perfect espresso shot. Get their signature belgian waffles topped with ice cream. Starting out as a venue that offers coffee and waffles, now they other types of dessert as well. They expand in the Singapore dessert scene pretty quickly and now they also offers services like dessert table, petai fours, and custom made celebration cakes for birthdays and weddings.

Birds of Paradise is my to go place to get gelato as they have various flavours infused with fruits, flowers, tea, and herbs. It is a homage to the plants available in the South East Asian region. Their flavours include white chrysanthemum, lychee raspberry, dark chocolate, and spiced pear, and many more. You can also shop for gifts in their gelato sets section in their website. With the high quality taste and variety, it is undoubtedly one of the best singapore dessert places. It has two branches which are East Coast Road and Jewel Changi Airport.

Brotherbird Coffee house

This time around, I revisited Haji Lane area (haven't been there for quite some time) and found a cafe called Brother Bird. The soft serve flavour is presented in rotational basis per week. During our visit, they have roasted barley flavoured soft serve with a balanced sweetness which I totally love! They updated the flavour monthly on their facebook page, make sure to check it out before coming down. We really like their mochi donut which has crispy outer but is soft and chewy on the inside. It is topped with some crispies/almond crunch as well.
